Healthy Snack Ideas
We are a nut free school!
Students will bring their own snacks, and when needed lunch, to school. Please label the snack containers with your child’s name. A good rule of thumb is to provide snacks that include 1 from each category- fiber, protein, and healthy fat. Here are a few examples :
- Mini bagel with cream cheese and grapes
- Pita wedges with hummus and string cheese
Fiber | Protein/Healthy Fat |
Popcorn | String cheese or Babybel |
Vegetables (carrots, celery, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli, cauliflower) | Plain Whole fat yogurt – drizzle honey or add fruit for sweetness |
Pretzels or Goldfish | Sunbutter |
Graham crackers | Mixture of Seeds- sunflower, pumpkin |
Fruit | Hummus |
Tortilla chips or pita wedges | Ham or turkey and cheese rollup |
Mini bagels | Cream cheese |
Chex mix | Avocado / guacamole |
Whole grain crackers | Edamame |
Please provide a cold pack for your child’s snack if it needs to be chilled. Serving sizes for children are usually the size of their fist.
