“The greatness of the human personality begins at the hour of birth.” Maria Montessori
The Infant/Parent Class is designed for infants who are between 6 months and 16 months, although we welcome parents who have younger infants. The setting is relaxed and informal – parents or caregivers sit on the floor around the room while the infants explore toys and each other in a safe environment specially prepared for their developmental needs.
The adult’s primary role in this class is that of an observer – watching your own infant and the others, noticing (and marveling at!) their movements and interactions. While we observe, we will have the opportunity to discuss what we are observing, as well as other topics of interest.
The goal is to build a community of parents and caregivers who support one another in this adventure of caring for infants and, along the way, develop confidence in our ability to communicate with infants with respect through our words, touch, rhythms and routines, and daily care.
The class meets on Tuesday mornings from 9:15 to 10:30 and is open to eight infants per eight week session. For registration information, please contact Karen Wilson at 336-748-0800 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
