-The SMS staff would like to say a huge THANK YOU to you for the gift cards we received from you for Christmas. We were truly overwhelmed by your generosity and kindness. As you can imagine, we all enjoyed spending our gift cards over the holidays – for groceries, family together-time, and indulgent treats that we normally don’t buy for ourselves. To the Parent Council members who coordinated the gifts and to those who contributed, please accept our most sincere thanks!
-School will be closed on Monday, January 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday.
-It is possible that we might see snow in the next couple of months. As stated in your Parent Handbook, SMS makes an independent decision to close, rather than follow the closing decisions of the public school system. If we decide to close, I will let you know by 7:00 that morning in the following ways: email, website, and announcements on WFDD and WXII.
-If your New Year’s resolution is to be on time for drop-off and pick-up, here’s a reminder of those times:
Drop-off – 9:00 to 9:10
Pick-up – Toddlers 11:50 to 12:00, 3-6 year-olds 12:00 to 12:10
Lunch Bunch and Explorer Pick-up 1:00 (on the dot!)
The staff greatly appreciates your efforts to be here on time, as it shows your respect for our time.
-Stay tuned for an announcement about our upcoming Positive Discipline class for parents and caregivers. Dates, times, and details to follow.
-Enrollment time for 2015-2016 is approaching! This week, you will receive a re-enrollment form by email, giving you the opportunity to enroll for the next school year. These forms will be due back in the office by January 30. In February, we will offer open spots for next year to our new applicants. If you have friends who might be interested in learning more about SMS, please send them our way. We will have a “Getting To Know SMS” meeting for prospective parents this Wednesday, January 14 and on Wednesday, February 11. We have never advertised – word of mouth by our families is our best, and only, marketing tool!
